Nora Ali Makes Appearances in Bangladesh and Mobile

Nora Ali, AJM 2007, spent her holidays making appearances internationally before making her final stop in Mobile, Alabama.

Nora visited her parents' home country of Bangladesh in December to personally deliver funds that she and her sister raised last semester at Harvard. The two gave henna tatoos to college students and raised more than $1,000 to donate for aid for victims of Cylone Sidr in Bangladesh.

During Nora's visit to Bangladesh, boyguards were assigned to her to protect her from the overwhelming fan and media attention that she received. She made appearances at schools, museums, and media events, and attended a ceremony to personally deliver the funds that she raised. Nora also met with political leaders of the country and was the guest of honor for the groundbreaking of the Bright Star Childrens Home. Nobel prize winner and economist, Dr. Muhammad Yumus, also visited with Nora during her visit.

Immediately upon returning from Bangladesh, Nora visit to Mobile, Alabama, to take part in the GMAC Bowl festivities. During the events, Nora was a special guest in the Greer's Food Tiger Mardi Gras Parade, attended banquets and special events, visited patients at the USA Women's and Children's Hospital, and performed the violin and helped with the coin toss at the GMAC Bowl Game.

Nora also performed the violin for the Girl Scouts at the Girl Scout Cookie Kick-Off. She spoke to the girls about the Be Your Best Self Program and encouraged them to do their best in all that they do in life.

Nora will return to Mobile in June for the 51st AJM National Finals.
